DR. ADOLPH BROWN TO SPEAK TO FSPS STUDENTS AND PARENTS ABOUT RESPECT AND TOLERANCE
Dr. Adolph Brown, is a rural school educator, author, research-scientist, businessman, and keynote speaker. Doc grew up in the projects--an environment full of overwhelming poverty, violence, and gang-related activity. He was raised by a hardworking single mother, and experienced extreme loss at the short age of eleven when his only sibling, and older brother, Oscar, was murdered. However, due to his mother’s resilience and dedication, Doc learned that hard work, faith, and a positive attitude were powerful instruments to overcome the limitations of his beginnings.
Doc was the first in his family to graduate high school and college. Now, he utilizes his education and resources to be a positive influence in the lives of young people who are economically disadvantaged. He brought a fitness center near the projects in which he was raised to offer the youth the opportunity to spend their time constructively. In addition, Doc contributes one third of his earnings to a million dollar scholarship endowment for hard-working young people that he established.
Respect and tolerance in an age of intolerance will be the focus of Doc’s high-energy presentations with the Fort Smith Public Schools’ secondary students and parents. He will visit all secondary schools and speak with families at District-sponsored parent nights on February 19 and 20. Doc will speak with all students at Northside, Southside, Kimmons and 7th, 8th and 9th graders at Belle Point on Tuesday February 19. That evening, he will be the featured speaker at a city-wide Parents Night from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Southside High School Auditorium. On February 20, he will speak to all students at Chaffin, Ramsey, Darby and 10th, 11th and 12th graders at Belle Point, as well as at another city-wide Parents Night from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Northside High School Auditorium. Additionally, he will return to work with all district staff during the 2019-2020 back to school session on August 9, 2019.
