Northside senior Ruby Perez was awarded a four-year Army ROTC scholarship valued at over $50,000. Due to her leadership skills and academic and athletic success, she was one of just a few recipients in the country. Next stop for Ruby: University of Arkansas, where she'll study architecture.

Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) is a dynamic and nationally recognized leadership development program sponsored by the United States Armed Forces. The mission of JROTC is to motivate young people to become better citizens. Established in 1916 by the National Defense Act, JROTC has a rich history of preparing young men and women for leadership roles in both military and civilian life.
