Martin Hyatt Named Fort Smith Public Schools Teacher of the Year

Martin Hyatt, AP Psychology teacher at Northside High School, has been selected as Fort Smith Public Schools Teacher of the Year. He holds a BA in History from Hendrix College, a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Virginia, and his Secondary Administrative Certification.

He says his favorite thing about being a teacher is that "teaching creates multiple opportunities to attempt to motivate, instruct, counsel, mentor, listen, and learn from my students and colleagues."

Most recently, Mr. Hyatt was one of two recipients in the country of the national 2024 American Psychology Association Teachers of Psychology in Secondary Schools (TOPSS) Charles T. Blair-Broeker Excellence in Teaching Award.

Mr. Hyatt will now go on to compete for Arkansas State Teacher of the Year.
