FSPS ARTS & SOUNDS SHOWCASE TO BE HELD ON DECEMBER 8
You are cordially invited to join Fort Smith Public Schools Board of Education and Administration for the 2019 Arts & Sounds Showcase this weekend. The lobby opens at 1 p.m. and the performance begins at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 8 at Temple Live in Downtown Fort Smith. It is free to the public.
View student art and photography in the Temple Live Lobby from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
At 2 p.m. the audience will hear a few holiday favorites, and much more. Northside vocalists and orchestra students are performing a collaborative piece. The Southside band will offer a little jazz. Drama teams from both high schools will be performing particular scenes from a couple of popular shows. Student musicians, Southside Senior Matthew Pollard and Northside Junior Natalie Estrada are also hosting the event.
The idea for the Arts and Sounds Performance came up a couple of years ago when the district was looking for ways to contribute to Fort Smith’s Bicentennial celebration in 2018.
The District School Board and other community members were so pleased with the performance and the community’s response that we began to plan for a continuing series that emphasizes different aspects of the creative process. This year, we are highlighting the music of smaller ensembles in the Temple Live Theatre. Visual artists and photographers are featured in an exhibition in the Temple Live lobby.
What these students and their teachers accomplish together is excellent and it’s important. Join us to help Fort Smith Public Schools spotlight their work!
