Summer Fun and Learning at Camp Invention
Camp Invention has been a summer enrichment opportunity for the past five years in the district! This year's Camp Invention had on average 95 campers per day attending. The students attending were from elementary schools within the district, as well as surrounding area schools. Students participate in a variety of hands-on activities ranging from reverse engineering a robot to teaming up with innovation superheroes.
In one of the activities, attendees manage their own farm as they learn the basics of running a business. With the assistance of Bot-ANN-E, a programmable robot, campers learn fundamental coding techniques to maximize their time and profits and perform mock DNA experiments to check the health of their cattle. The curriculum focuses on the development of creative and inventive-thinking skills that the students can take with them once they are through with the camp.
