FSPS Partners with Crosswalk Marketing Group to Promote Positive Messages
On January 24, 2020, Crosswalk Marketing Group presented a check for more than $16,000 to the Fort Smith Public Schools Transportation division. This money is designated to support important safety initiatives for the district’s 87 trips and route buses.
Arkansas Act 941 provides the opportunity to generate extra revenue for school district transportation departments throughout the state. FSPS will use these additional dollars to promote positive messages for and about district students and their teachers. The check represents 60 percent of the net sponsorship revenue.
Dr. Doug Brubaker, Fort Smith Public Schools Superintendent, said, “Ensuring and promoting student safety and student achievement are important priorities for our district. We are grateful for the support of our sponsors. They are helping to disseminate important and positive messages about our students, schools, and programs through their investments in this bus advertising program.”
Current project sponsors include ABB, Arvest Bank, Baptist Health Systems, Centennial Bank, First National Bank, Harry Robinson Buick GMC, Sam's Club, and UAFS.
FSPS transportation will reinvest this money to enhance and improve safety on buses. These dollars could be used to purchase additional cameras to assist with bus supervision. District representatives are also looking into the cost of collision avoidance warning systems purchased by other districts who also use this extra revenue stream. According to the law, these funds can be used to provide added driver education and to cover bus maintenance expenses as well.
