  • 7th Grade Transition to Success

    Incoming 7th Graders are invited to come to school on Thursday, July 29 from 8:00 a.m. to noon.  Students will have the opportunity to meet their teachers and students mentors.  This is a great time to learn how to navigate their new school and have questions answered before the first day of school.  Lunch will be served.

    Parents are invited to attend Open House on Tuesday, August 10.  8th Grade parents will be able to participate from 5:00 p.m. to 7:10 p.m.  

    6th and 7th grade parents will be able to participate from 6:10 p.m. to 8:20 p.m.

    This is a great time to meet your child's teachers and learn the expectations for the new school year.

    Beginning in 2018-19, Chaffin Junior High School will participate in a school-wide Title I program.  The Title I program is a federally funded program which provides supplemental educational services to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high quality education.  It also helps to ensure that students reach, at minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic achievement standards and state academic assessments.

    The Fort Smith Public School District is governed by a seven-member Board of Education.
    Four members are elected by zone while three are elected in at-large positions.


    The FSPS BOE will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, August 9, 2021 for a work session.

    The FSPS BOE will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, August 23, 2021 for a scheduled board meeting.

    PLEASE NOTE: The July 26, 2021 board meeting has been cancelled.

    The meetings will take place at the Service Center Building 'B' Auditorium, 3205 Jenny Lind Road.
