Attendance
Unexcused Absences
Daily attendance is a vital part of academic success. The Fort Smith Public School attendance policies can be found on page four of the district handbook. The consequences for excessive unexcused absences may result in:
Unexcused absence #4: Assigned 1 (one) day of Saturday School
Unexcused absence #5: Assigned 2 (two) days of Saturday School
Unexcused absence #6: Possible FINS petition and court appearance
Tardies
A student will be in his or her seat when the tardy bell has rung. The consequences for unexcused tardiness per class per semester are as follows:
Tardy #1: Warning and teacher calls or writes the parent
Tardy #2: After-school detention in the teacher's classroom
Tardy #3: Student sent to assistant principal's office. Assigned 1 (one) day of detention
Tardy #4: Student sent to the assistant principal's office. Assigned 1 (one) day of SDC.
Tardy #5 or more: Additional days of SDC and/or Saturday School
