I felt convicted to help in what ever way I could to make FSPS the best version of itself it could be. I did not think it would be easy, and it is not. I did not sign up to do what is easy, I signed up to do what is right.

Involvement in Schools: Through my work at the Chamber and through my own children – motivates me to help grow and improve our district. FSPS has been here since before I was born and will exist long after I’m gone – I would hope to leave the district in better shape for the next generation of both students and teachers. My work at UAFS allows me to interact with future teachers in our School of Education, and I want FSPS to be their district of choice. I see so many wonderful things happening that we can build on. I see negative forces that are sometimes louder than the positive ones, and I want to be a positive voice for our District. But that
doesn’t mean we won’t have tough conversations on improvements, barriers, challenges – I am prepared for that as well. My service and participation in Leadership FS, on the Hope Campus Board, and even challenges in previous work environments have prepared me well for those tough conversations. When you lead with good intentions, a good heart, and the best interest of the community – so much can be accomplished.

Why You Were Interested in Serving on the Board:  I have always been drawn to serve - to give my time and talent where I can make a difference. As I have
said many times, Fort Smith is the community that raised me and I feel it is my obligation and responsibility to give back where I can. Since I haven’t won the lottery yet, giving of my time, skills, and talent is the best way for me to contribute. Communication, leadership, teamwork, compassion, community service - these are all areas where I believe I am skilled and experienced.
