Communications Department

  • ABOUT US

    The FSPS Communications Department manages the district's communications and provides communications support and consultancy to 27 school campuses.  The Communications Department supports the school district and its students by managing the following key activities:

    Media Relations

      • We develop and distribute press releases on important news in the district;
      • We respond to media inquiries and coordinate interview requests with reporters; and
      • We manage all public records requests for the district.

    General Announcements, Emergent Incidents, and Crisis Communications

      • We inform parents and families about general district announcements, emergent incidents, and crisis situations that may arise.  We do this by coordinating with school administration, school resource officers, and other staff to gather information before utilizing our mass communications systems (phone, text, and email) to connect with our families.

    Digital Communications

      1. Website: We manage and maintain the design and development of the district’s website, while all departments and schools maintain responsibility for their individual websites or pages;
      2. Social Media: We use social media to inform our district audience and often share information on individual staff, schools, and students.  Connect with us on Facebook, Instagram, and X.  Visit our Vimeo channel to watch board meeting videos and other district-related videos.
      3. District News: We report on the latest news within the district and place this news on the home page of the district's website.  Examples of district news that the communications office covers include stories about:

        • student achievement at the state, national, or international level;
        • special programs that meet our organization's mission, vision, values, and/or goals;
        • overcoming adversity;
        • volunteerism and community partnerships; and
        • unique campus traditions.

          SHARE THE GOOD NEWS WITH COMMUNICATIONS STAFF

    Programmatic Support

      • We manage the Superintendent's Star program, a monthly program that enables our Superintendent to recognize model students in elementary and middle schools;
      • We oversee the Board of Education's monthly recognitions to celebrate the significant work our staff and students perform; and
      • We support district leadership whenever they need to communicate with internal or external stakeholders.

    Branding & Advertising

      • We manage the district’s branding and advertising projects and collaborate with campus staff on individual school branding projects.

    Visual Asset Development

      • We develop and maintain visual assets for district and campus use, including graphics, professional photography, and video.
