    Chris Carter, Principal 

    Mr. Chris Carter is in his 27th year in education, 24th in administration. Born and raised in Fort Smith, Arkansas. A fan of not only Northside High School but also a lover of his community and all things Fort Smith, Ar. A 1990 graduate of Northside High School, he earned a football scholarship at Henderson State University, where he earned his Bachelors and Masters Degrees. He started his career as a football coach in Fordyce, Arkansas and spent the next 4 years there, 3 as a teacher/coach and one as the high school Principal. He moved from Fordyce to Sallisaw, OK, where he was the Assistant Principal and Athletic Director for 2 years. He came to Fort Smith in 2002 where he was a teacher/Coach for one year at Kimmons Jr. High then became an Assistant Principal there for 4 more years, before moving to Northside High School as an Assistant Principal. He spent 10 years at Northside High School before moving to Magnolia, Arkansas and becoming the building Principal, where he would work for the next 6 years.

    everything it stands for!”

    Chris is married to the former Tama Formica, also a class of 1990 Northside High School graduate. They have 2 daughters, Mattie and Kalyn, and a grandson, Greyson.

    Marshal Hurst, Assistant Principal

    Marshal Hurst is in his first year as assistant principal at Northside High School. Mr. Hurst began his education career as a math teacher and coach for football and girls' basketball at Spiro High School in Spiro, OK. He has also worked in the College of Education at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith and for the Office of Professional Development at the Arkansas Department of Education.  During his time with Fort Smith Public Schools, Mr. Hurst served as a math teacher, teaching Algebra 3, Algebra 2, and Geometry. Mr. Hurst graduated from Spiro High School and earned his Associate of Science Degree from Carl Albert State College, Bachelor of Science Degree from East Central University, and Master of Arts in Education degree from Southern Nazarene University. Mr. Hurst is married to Heather Hurst and they have 5 children.  Hannah (21), Kenzie (16), Marlee (13), Zeke (10), and Matt (8).

     

     

  • Meghan Reinhart, AP

    Meghan Reinhart, Assistant Principal

    Meghan Reinhart, Assistant Principal of Northside High School, believes that every student deserves the opportunity to excel, and it is our job to ensure each student is granted that opportunity. Mrs. Reinhart began her career at Northside as an English teacher in 2012 and has since been appointed Assistant Principal. She graduated from Ozark High School and attended college at Arkansas State University. Here she earned her Bachelor of Science in English Education, Master of Science in Educational Leadership, and Specialist in Educational Leadership/Superintendency. Mrs. Reinhart believes one should never stop learning and hopes to inspire growth and lifelong learning in adults and students alike. She understands that education is an essential key to future success and is ecstatic to continue serving the students and families of Northside High School.

  • Diego Olivarez, Assistant Principal

    Mr. Diego Olivarez joins Northside High School as the new Assistant Principal. A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Mr. Olivarez honorably served his country in combat deployments to Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, including a stint with the Joint Special Operations Task Force. He retired as a Gunnery Sergeant after 20 years of active duty. Mr. Olivarez then transitioned to a career in education, beginning as a special education paraprofessional at Woods Elementary. He then became the US History and Geography teacher for Clarksville Junior High School and was later appointed as the school’s ALE teacher. Mr. Olivarez then moved to the Fort Smith Public School’s Belle Point Center, where he taught a wide range of subjects, including Sociology, Psychology, Math/Algebra, US History, Geometry, and World History, and was selected to be the School Test Coordinator. A few years later, he was appointed to be the Director of the campus. At Northside, Mr. Olivarez is committed to fostering a safe, supportive, and challenging learning environment. He values strong relationships with students, parents, and staff and is dedicated to helping every student thrive. Mr. Olivarez looks forward to joining the excellent team at Northside, and enhancing the educational experiences for everyone at Northside High School.
    Mr. Olivarez holds an Associate of Arts in General Studies from Central Texas College, a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Oklahoma, and two Master’s degrees from Arkansas Tech University: one in Teaching, Learning, and Leadership, and another in Educational Leadership.
