    FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is funding you can get from the government, your school, and private sources including:

    • Grants
    • Scholarships
    • Work-study
    • Loans

    • Institutional & Private Aid/Scholarships
      • Example -  Google "University of Arkansas Fort Smith Scholarships" and see what you find
        • Some scholarships are "merit" based, so it is yours if you meet the academic requirements.
        • Some scholarships are "competitive", so you may have to meet requirements and prove you are deserving of the scholarship, competing against other possible applicants.
        • Be sure to look at "Foundation" scholarships that are available.  This may require a separate application.  These are scholarships that are funded by private donors.

      • Scholarship List - FIND THE LOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS AND MORE
      • Student Directions
        • Students must log in using Clever
        • Log in with your @fortsmithschools.org email account
        • Once in Clever, select the Naviance App
        • Once on Naviance, select the "Colleges" Tab
        • Next "Scholarships and Money"
        • Finally, "Scholarship List"
      • Parent Directions
        • Call or email Ms. Bannister, SHS Counseling Secretary, for a parent Naviance login code.
        • Go to: https://student.naviance.com/southsidehighsc.
        • Select “I need to register".
        • Enter the registration code given to you by the counselor's office.
        • Follow the instructions to set up the username and password.
        • After you register the first time, you will log in with your username and password.
